One of Memphis' most important innovations, perhaps their greatest contribution, was the use of patterned laminates in furniture design. At the end of the 70's and the beginning of the 80's, Abet Laminati was an important partner for both the Studio Alchymia and the Memphis design group collaborating on both the design for laminate patterns and new uses for the material.

Christoph Radl designed many of the laminate patterns for Memphis, along with Ettore Sottsass, Michele De Lucchi, Nathalie du Pasquier and George Sowden. Abet Laminati commissioned Radl to design this poster highlighting the use of the patterned material, and the possibilities for outdoor use.
